LIKE MINDED TYPES

We've been quiet for the last couple of weeks, largely due to an overdue holiday and work on our first release.
An old friend, Dusty Bible, has been working on some new sounds which will feature on the release, and we've been soaking them all up. Dusty has a handle on a modern take of blues, with lots of glitches, noise and beats in the pot, together with his trademark drawl. Check out his previous material here: https://dustybible.bandcamp.com/ Safe to say the new stuff is great and will be heading your way soon.
In addition, the internet has thrown up plenty of interesting articles over the last fortnight:
Check out Lori Napoleon's work with old telephone switch boards, neatly converted into synths: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/listen-to-the-ambient-music-of-repurposed-telephone-switchboards
Koka Nikoladze, a graduate from the Norwegian Academy of Music, has been working on a box that works on the principal of metal resonance and contact mics, similar to our post on the matter here.
This Facebook video showcases some of its capabilities, and he has a wealth of other 'boxes' that he uses for soundtracks. Lovely laser cut work on the enclosure....
Hacking CD's? Is that even possible? This article looks at the evolution of the art and how removing the 'mute' function in the CD reading circuit encourages them the play everything they come across... There is a history lesson of the pioneers of CD hacking and Nicolas Collins is at the forefront of that: http://flypaper.soundfly.com/features/compact-discs-instruments-pioneers-cd-sound-art/
